In our bible reading this week, we will be looking at Moses’ final speech before his death recorded in Deuteronomy. In the opening chapter, Moses, knowing that he will not enter the promise land, encourages the people of God to remember God’s promises to them (Deuteronomy 1:10-11). God promised Abraham that his offspring shall be as numerous as the stars (Genesis 15:5). There are many promises of God recorded in Scripture. Here are some of my go-to promises of God from the Old Testament.
Exodus 14:14 The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.
Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Isaiah 40:31 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.
Malachi 3:10 Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.
What are your go-to promises?
